Water and sun

One country with two main islands, Pacific Ocean on the west side, Tasman Sea to the east, and so many occasions to admire a sun which rises or sets. Beautiful views, we can never regret an early start or a long wait to watch the sky turn orange and red.

In front of the ocean or overlooking a lake, on each side of the islands, the reflecting colours are always very impressive. Incredible memories from a time of the day spent sitting on a hill or waiting on the beach.

Glaciers and fjords

Every day brought us new endeavours and rare and wonderful landscapes. After discovering vineyards and beaches, we drive to the glaciers. Huge pieces of ice, grey and white, sometimes blue, they seem to spread out of the mountains. Impressive vision of a massive frozen earth which seems to come from the sky and makes humans look so small.

Observing the surrounding nature leads us to realize the air is not so cold and the environment is full of green vegetation! Varied plants, trees and ferns, moss, cold water torrents… a little further, a lake with calm waters which reflect the mountain...

Driving to the South, we discover the fjords. Once again, we can’t get bored with what we see: nature is offering superb views of large and dark water surfaces, in between two green cliffs. High waterfalls, a misty atmosphere, smog, clouds and shadows...

Fjord landscapes do impress, as they are large and calm, but the attraction here is not only the fjords: the landscape along the road to get there is astonishing. Snowy mountains and plains full of purple and orange flowers. Climbing the road and going down after a long tunnel, a few boiling rivers… a nature which seems both desert and planted, humid and dried.
