TIBET | |||||
Tea is the national drink in Tibet, but a very special tea : yak butter tea. Yak butter tea is made from yak butter mixed with salt, milk, tea leaves and hot water. |

It has a strange taste and an even stranger consistency : creamy, pasty, and not refreshing at all. Tasting it is like drinking warm yoghurt, or milk tea, but instead of milk it would be butter... Interesting to taste, but certainly quite difficult to have it every day like Tibetan people... At least, we didn't really like our cup of yak butter tea, but found one thing worse than hot yak butter tea : cold yak butter tea ! |
