FACES

Imagine sweet and smooth faces, embellished by a yellow paste which protects the cheeks and makes people look nice; faces which smile.

Imagine a country where people seem happy and look forward to helping, welcoming and sharing.

A country where it is forbidden to discuss some topics with strangers, also... little communicating but much receiving!

Imagine dusty roads crossing small villages, a few wooden houses sheltering large families; women and children sitting next to the river and washing themselves, feet in water and wet hair, wrapped with their longyi, a traditional clothing worn by almost everyone in Myanmar, making like a skirt to men.

Wandering through villages where houses seem so fragile on their wooden piles, meeting featherless hens and bored dogs, pink pigs covered with mud and large oxen. Along the road, children greet and smile, with their coloured faces and dirty clothes.

Myanmar is a country which makes you feel far from home, but which welcomes you so much that you can only regret what the government does (or does not) to the inhabitants.

We dicovered and shared a lot in Myanmar, and our journey was a great occasion to meet friendly people, people from Myanmar or other travellers, sharing with them a smile or laugh, while having a meal, sitting in a boat or at the back of a truck. Precious moments in a country with a more than difficult every day life...
